Natural Alternatives to the Flu Shot
It’s officially flu season! We are in transition from fall to winter, the incubation period for the common cold and flu. Over the years I have gotten sucked in by the hype of taking the Flu shot along with my children, and what I have noticed is that over the years my body has built up a tolerance to it. But have you ever wondered what’s in a flu shot? The flu mist contains: Arginine, dibasic potassium phosphate, egg protein, ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid, gentamicin sulfate, hydrolyzed porcine gelatin, monobasic potassium phosphate monosodium glutamate, sucrose and the flu vaccine contains Egg proteins, formaldehyde, polysorbate 80, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, neomycin sulfate, and kanamycin. These ingredients are not to scare you but to allow you to recognize and understand if you have allergies to these ingredients you could be putting yourself at risk.
Over the past few years I have discovered that there are various immune system defenders against the Flu found in your local food markets and health food stores. To list a few: Echinacea, Fresh ginger, Wormwood root, Balsam root, Sage and Golden seal. However, by far my favorite alternative is the recipe below:
All Natural Flu Shot Remedy
6 kale leaves
3 small red apples
½ bunch of parsley
4 celery ribs
Place all items into a blender and puree, drinking this combination daily keeps the Flu and common cold away especially during the fall and winter months.
By no means we are telling you to opt out of taking your “Flu Shot” this is simply an alternative to the flu shot. It is always good to have options and multiple choices can lead to better decisions when deciding on how to protect your family during this flu season.
